The 1 February 2026 tax reset (GST 40%, compensation cess removed, specific excise of INR2,050-8,500 per 1,000 sticks) changed the economics. Reported revenue includes excise, so it doubled in Q1FY27 to INR3,819.6cr. Excise-net revenue fell 18.8% to INR1,205.5cr, and PAT to owners fell 44.3% to INR198.4cr. Gross revenue is net revenue plus an excise pass-through, which has no effect on profit.
